On "The Kelly File" tonight, Megyn Kelly pressed Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on if he would deport the children of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.

Cruz said that birthright citizenship encourages people to break the law and enter the country illegally. He said that policy should be changed, whether it's through a statute or a constitutional amendment.

Megyn Kelly asked Cruz if he would deport the children of illegal immigrant parents who are born in the U.S., who have American citizenship.

Cruz said that's a distraction and a question that every mainstream, liberal journalist wants to ask.

"Is it an unfair question?" Megyn pressed. "Why is it so hard? Why don't you just say 'yes' or 'no'?"

Cruz said he's focusing on areas where there is bipartisan agreement, and that's why he's laying out his plan for securing the border.
