2 Women Fall to Their Deaths in Grand Teton National Park
A trio of climbers were attempting to summit Teewinot Mountain at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on Saturday when two fell to their deaths, the National Park Service announced in a news release.
Tyler Strandberg, 27, and Catherine Nix, 28, suffered a fatal fall of approximately 200 feet off a rocky ledge at 11,500 feet.
Park officials received an emergency call from the third woman, Rebecca Anderson, 26, around 11:15 am Saturday.
Anderson said that she had landed on a ledge, while her two partners had fallen out of sight and were non-responsive to her calls.
Strandberg and Nix were pronounced dead on the scene by park rangers. Anderson, who escaped without injury, was evacuated from the ledge via helicopter.
