A teenager was arrested after he was caught on camera shining a laser into the cockpit of a police helicopter in Ontario, Canada.

When the suspect took off running, the pilot was able to observe the laser - which was actually a pellet gun - being tossed away.

The officers aboard the chopper were then able to guide police officers on the ground to the teen, who was hiding in the woods.

Officers found the laser and arrested 19-year-old armed forces reservist Nicholas Caranci, who faces three charges, including mischief endangering life.

The helicopter had deployed to a separate weapons incident to assist officers on the ground when the laser strike occurred over the weekend.
