Newt Gingrich went "On The Record" tonight and told Greta Van Susteren that the other Republican presidential candidates have to face the reality that if Donald Trump continues polling at 25 percent or better, he will win the nomination.

Gingrich said that sooner or later somebody is going to have to take Trump on, which hasn't gone very well for the few who have tried.

"It's like a science fiction film, where you shoot at him and he gets bigger," Gingrich said. "You're dealing with somebody who is totally different from anybody in modern politics."

He explained that Trump is a phenomenon who attracts the media's attention wherever he goes.

"He doesn't need to be anything else. He doesn't have to hire any PR firm. Wherever he goes, you're going to show up," Gingrich said.
