Dr. Ben Carson said this morning on “Fox and Friends” that he has jumped to fourth place in the Iowa poll “because people are listening.”

“I think a lot of people in our country recognize that we are not gonna survive if we continue to stick our heads in the sand and do what we traditionally have done,” Carson said.

Carson explained that he has a deep concern for society’s downtrodden, and he said that the left has pushed the false narrative that he wants to get rid of welfare programs.

Rather, the 2016 contender said that wants to get business, industry, academia, Wall Street and churches involved in investing in the people around them.

“Since the ‘60s, we spent over $19 trillion on the War on Poverty. What do we have? Ten times more people on food stamps, more welfare, more incarceration and crime, broken families, out of wedlock birth,” he said. “Everything that was supposed to be better is not only worse – it’s much worse.”
