Guitarist Who Was Cited for Nat'l Anthem Performance Rejects Plea Deal
A Florida guitarist says he will not take a plea deal for charges stemming from his performance of the national anthem.
Lane Pittman was cited for breach of peace after he performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” for a crowd at Neptune Beach on the Fourth of July.
“I just wanted to be as American and patriotic as I possibly could on the Fourth of July, and that’s what happened,” he told “Fox and Friends” earlier this month.
Pittman has since rejected a plea deal that would have dropped the charges if he performed community service. He says that taking the deal would mean admitting wrongdoing.
