Police today captured an escaped inmate who walked away from a work-release program and killed a woman in her Pennsylvania home.

Authorities say 38-year-old Robert Crissman fled Armstrong County Jail yesterday morning while delivering meals to his fellow inmates as part of a work-release program.

They say he then walked to the home of 55-year-old Tammy Long and murdered the woman after her boyfriend, Jerry Slagle, left for work.

Police believe that Crissman knew the victim, and that the couple was unaware that Crissman had just escaped jail.

Crissman took off with stolen guns in a maroon 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Authorities say he was considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect had been in jail for violating probation on a drug charge and does not have a prior history of violent crimes, officials say.
