Christie Defends Gun Rights Record After Confrontation With Iowa Voter
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie defended his record on gun rights tonight on "The Kelly File."
Megyn Kelly noted that the NRA gave Christie a "C" rating in 2013 and didn't even invite him to their annual conference in 2015.
"It's simply wrong," the New Jersey governor said. "When you look at the record, the record doesn't back that up or indicate it."
Christie pointed out that many gun control laws were put into effect in his state before he took office, and he's since vetoed a number of expansions of those laws.
He added that he didn't try to expand gun rights because there was a Democratic legislature that would have halted any of his efforts.
"[If] you don't have the legislature going along with you, you can't do it," Christie said.
