A Maine diner owner is under fire for yelling at a screaming toddler in her restaurant.

Marcy’s Diner owner Darla Neugebauer said that a little girl screamed for 40 minutes last week while her parents chatted and ignored the crying child.

Neugebauer said that the parents ordered their hungry toddler three, full-sized pancakes, which took a while to cook. Once the pancakes arrived, Neugebauer said that they were in the middle of the table, where the screaming child couldn’t even reach them.

Neugebauer claims that she first asked the family to leave, but they continued to sit at the table with the crying child. Shortly thereafter, Neugebauer said that she slammed her hands on their table and said, “This needs to stop.” That's when the child finally stopped screaming, she said.

Mom Tara Carson posted to the diner's Facebook page about last week’s incident, calling the diner owner “an absolute lunatic [who] screamed in the face of my almost 2-year-old child because she was crying.”

“I have a business to run & yes I am f***ing crazy and you are lucky I didn’t get really f***ing nuts because being physical is not something I cower from… male or female,” Marcy’s Diner wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post.

"Life's full of choices and you've got to live with all of them,” Neugebauer told WCSH 6. “I chose to yell at a kid, it made her shut up, which made me happy, it made my staff happy, it made the 75 other people dining here happy, and they left, they may never come back, other people may not come in. Their loss really."
