Four women celebrating a bachelorette party were killed and three others seriously injured after an alleged drunk driver crashed into their limousine on Long Island Saturday evening, according to police.

The crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Route 48 in Cutchogue, Suffolk County, New York.

The limousine was leaving a winery and making a U-turn at a blinking traffic light when the pickup collided with it.

When medics arrived, they discovered three of the women were trapped inside the limo. They were freed and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Four other women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup ran from the crash, but was caught and arrested and faces a driving while intoxicated charge.

Southold Police Chief Martin Flatley said the crash was "one of the worst accidents I've ever seen."
