A Tennessee college student went to great lengths to get a perfect New York City selfie.

David Karnauch climbed the Brooklyn Bridge, and then used a selfie stick to snap a photo of the moment before posting it to Instagram.

The University of Tennessee student told NBC 4 New York that nobody questioned or stopped him as he climbed the bridge.

"You could just get on a beam and it actually had handrails on the left and right side, and I just walked across the bridge and turned around to take a picture,” he said.

John Miller, the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism, called the stunt “irresponsible and illegal.”

“Had the officers patrolling the bridge arrived while he was there, he would have been arrested, as others have been,” Miller said.

Karnauch’s photo is not sitting well with many New Yorkers, who cite security concerns.
