The NYPD is warning people not to use this iPhone cover that looks very much like a real handgun.

Police departments and anti-gun advocates argue that these cases are an accident waiting to happen.

One of the iPhone covers is being sold at the website JapanTrendShop.com for $49. It comes with an app in which you can "play games of Russian Roulette at parties!"

"Don't worry, you can't actually shoot anyone!" the website states.

Other types of these cases are advertised on the internet for as little as $10.

Critics are calling for the devices to be banned, saying that they could easily be mistaken for a real firearm by a police officer, especially at night.

One former police officer told the New York Daily News that the case is "the stupidest, most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen."
