Christie: I'm Running for President, Not 'Prom King of America'
Gov. Chris Christie pledged a spin-free campaign when he announced his 2016 run for president today in Livingston, N.J.
“I am not running for the president of the United States as a surrogate for being elected prom king of America […] I mean what I say, and I say what I mean, and that’s what America needs right now,” he said.
Christie promised a campaign without spin, pandering and focus group-tested answers, even if it makes Americans cringe, he said.
“When I’m asked a question, I’m going to give the answer to the question that’s asked, not the answer that my political consultants told me to give backstage,” he said.
