RPT: Madonna's Hamptons 'Farm' Has Some Locals Fuming
Madonna will reportedly get a huge tax break after buying a farm in the Hamptons.
The “Material Girl” bought the taxpayer-owned farm from Suffolk County and the Town of Southampton for $2.2 million. Suffolk and the Town of Southampton purchased the land in 2010 for $10 million.
The pop icon is allegedly using the 24-acre property as a tree nursery, but local farmers aren’t buying it. Farmers told the New York Post that she just wanted the property for tax purposes and to keep people from prying near her $5 million mansion.
The Post reported that Madonna will only have to pay $2,260.28 per year for the land as part of a county tax break given to farms.
Madonna had no comment when contacted by the Post.
