Fox News contributor Father Jonathan Morris said today he was spat on while walking past a gay pride parade in New York City.

Morris said he was walking down Broadway and 22 Street when two men walked by and spat on him on Sunday.

"Oh well, I deserve worse," he remarked on Facebook.

Walking down Broadway and 22nd St just now, I ran into gay marriage parade. Two men walked by and spat on me. Oh well... I deserve worse.

Shortly thereafter, he added that the two men were probably "caught up in excitement and past resentment."

The two men who spat on me are probably very good man caught up in excitement and past resentment. Most in that parade would not do that.

Father Morris sat down with Sean Hannity tonight to discuss the incident and the nationwide legalization of gay marriage.

"There’s a lot of people who are gay, who have been fighting for gay marriage for a long time, who have probably been spat on and a lot worse by people on my side," he told Hannity.

Morris shared that he doesn't think members of the gay community are the individuals who spat on him.

He explained that there is a "tremendous amount of emotion and tension on both sides" of the issue.
