Women in Japan are going bananas over a hunky male gorilla named Shabani.

Photos of the buff 18-year-old silverback gorilla went viral after women began sharing them on Twitter.

According to officials at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, there has been a sharp increase in female visitors who are coming to see the hairy heartthrob.

His loving Twitter following often refers to him as an "ikemen," which means a "good-looking man."

Shabani grew up in an Australian zoo, but was moved to Japan in 2007 to mate with three female gorillas. He has since produced two healthy male offspring.
