A Georgia special education teacher has been fired after she allegedly put an autistic student in a trash can.

Mary Katherine Pursley told the school board that the student was acting like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street.

She claimed that she held him over the trash can to “shake out the grouchy” and was only trying to calm him down.

The school board yesterday voted to end Pursley’s contract with the school.

Pursley has also been charged with felony child cruelty.
