WATCH: Anna & Olympic Star Get an Adrenaline Rush on 'Road Trip'
By: Anna Kooiman
Hi there, travel buddies! Are you ready for another "Road Trip with Anna Kooiman" installment?
This time, producers arranged for an adrenaline rush at the roller coaster capital of the world, Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. I was excited to get back to the Buckeye State because I worked as a morning anchor in Toledo several years back. Good people in Ohio! And the cherry on top? Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas trains at a gym in Columbus, and she wanted to take the road trip with me!
While we waited our turn to get on the coaster, Gabby gave me a little gymnastics lesson. Check out this picture: It's the first back bend into a bridge that I have done in more than a decade. How is her coaching? Do you like my form?
The gymnast genius was more ready for some high flying than me! I hadn't been on a roller coaster in years, and I get motion sickness, so I was a little nervous! The Rougarou is a floorless roller coaster with an inclined loop at a wild 45 degrees.
While flipping, twisting, turning, and screaming at the top of our lungs, Gabby filled me in on what's next for her. Not long ago, she announced that she's doing a reality show that will document her progress in the gym, as she hopes to defend her title at the Olympics in Rio.
