Five people were injured at a wedding reception at New York City's ritzy Waldorf Astoria hotel when a guest's gun accidentally went off, officials said.

A 42-year-old man had a gun in his pocket, and while wedding pictures were being taken in the first floor lobby of the famed hotel Saturday evening, the weapon discharged, according to police.

The bullet ricocheted and grazed the head of a 55-year-old woman, who was conscious, alert and expected to be fine.

Four other people were hit by either shrapnel from the bullet or pieces of debris. Their injuries were considered non-life-threatening. One person refused medical attention.

The man who had the gun was taken into custody, but no charges have been filed. Police are reviewing video footage of the incident captured on hotel security cameras.
