On "Hannity" tonight, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said that Congress is making a mistake regarding the Patriot Act.

Giuliani told Sean Hannity that there is no evidence that the information gathered under the Patriot Act was misused under the administrations of President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama.

"I happen to know that the information is helpful," Giuliani stated. "The government has its hands tied behind its back because it can't defend itself. It can't point out the situations in which that information has been helpful."

He explained that he doesn't think it should be used for domestic prosecution and that the government has handled it responsibly.

"They’re going to put it in the hands of private companies. And there may be a day that we get a bombing that we don’t pick up fast enough, because it’s going to take a while for the government to get that from the private companies," Giuliani stated. "And people could die as a result of that, and I think Congress is making a mistake here."
