A man surprised his hospitalized wife on their 57th wedding anniversary by showing up in a tuxedo with flowers and chocolate.

Jim Russell and his wife Elinor say they normally keep their anniversary low-key. But this year, their family wanted to come up with a way for Jim to make the day special for Elinor, who has been in the hospital for a month.

Photos posted by their granddaughter show Jim arriving in a tuxedo with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for his wife.

Now, Jim is an Internet star and he and Elinor's touching love story has gone viral.

On "Fox and Friends Weekend," Clayton Morris spoke to Jim, his son, Bo, and Bo's two daughters, Reid and Emmaline.

Bo revealed that Reid and Emmaline drove to the hospital to do their grandmother's makeup for her anniversary. That gave Bo the idea of getting his father in his tux for the special day.

Jim said he thought it was a good idea because his wife had been in the hospital for some time and needed to be cheered up.

"She looked like she was very happy and very surprised and a little emotional," Jim said. "But she was very happy to see me come in. And it was a surprise."

"It just worked out really well and it did a good job of cheering her up," Bo said. "She was very happy and the viral tweet was just an afterthought that Reid did without thinking it would go viral."

Reid said she was expecting maybe 50 people to see the tweet. It currently has tens of thousands of retweets and favorites.
