Llama Trauma? Owners Say Llama's Fame Has Made Her Defiant
One of the stars of the llama drama that unfolded on “Shepard Smith Reporting” in February has reportedly become more defiant following the ordeal.
Laney and Kahkneeta, the two llamas who led residents and authorities on a chase through Sun City, Ariz., were the topic of a recent New York Times article.
The llamas’ owners claim that all of the public appearances and TV interviews have changed Kahkneeta, the white llama who was last to surrender to police.
Laney has bounced back from the public ordeal. But Ms. Freund said the experience had gone straight to Kahkneeta’s head. Back in the pen, the llama still has a bit of defiance in her system, and she has grown distant. Ms. Freund worries she has post-traumatic stress.
“She’s a little harder to handle now,” she said. “She knows if she takes off, she can do whatever she wants. She was always my llama, and now she holds me accountable for everything that happened.”
The owners of the lawless llamas hope moving to a larger property will help.
