A New York gas station cashier says a slushie machine may have saved his life.

Derek St. Arnaud, a cashier at Mobil in Perinton, was at work Monday when a car crashed through the gas station. Surveillance video shows Arnaud walking away from his post moments before a car plowed through the store – right where St. Arnaud had been standing.

St. Arnaud said he left his post to prepare the “Slush Puppie” machine.

Authorities say the driver of the car suffered a medical emergency, which is why he crashed through the store. He is expected to be OK.
