The Baltimore police department announced today that it has received a "credible" threat about gangs teaming up to attack police officers.

The press release from Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts spoke of a partnership between the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods and the Crips to "take-out" law enforcement officers.

Officers were advised to "take appropriate precautions."

The threat comes as thousands gathered today for the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old man who died of injuries sustained in police custody.

Protests over Gray's death turned violent this weekend with at least 34 arrests being made and six officers suffering injuries.

The police department is conducting an investigation into how Gray was injured and why it took so long for him to receive medical attention.
