UPDATE, 3:19p ET: Officials have given the 'all-clear' after a phone threat sparked a massive evacuation at the Statue of Liberty.

Reports of a suspicious package forced the evacuation of the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island Friday afternoon. 

The evacuation of the monument came shortly before 1 p.m. Officials with the National Parks Service are conducting a sweep of Liberty Island and the New York City Police Department told FoxNews.com it sent a bomb squad to the scene.

A dog reportedly picked up a suspicious scent in a locker.

Officials labeled the evacuation as precautionary. No injuries have been reported.

Visitors posted photos of the scene on social media.
