A fugitive who has been on the run for nearly four decades says he wants to go back to prison for the health care.

Authorities say 66-year-old Clarence David Moore vanished from a North Carolina prison back in 1976. They say he has been living in Kentucky under the name Ronnie Dickinson. He even lived with a woman who was unaware of his past.

Moore has diabetes and recently suffered a stroke, but he couldn’t get health care due to his fake identification. This week, he called the sheriff and gave himself up.

Moore, who was imprisoned for larceny, has a history of escaping. He managed to break out of prison in 1971 and again the next year. He was found in 1975 but escaped again in 1976 and remained missing for 39 years.
