Animal rights activist and PETA spokeswoman Pamela Anderson appeared at Arizona's Maricopa County Jail on Wednesday to promote Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s all-vegetarian meal program for inmates.

Arpaio says cutting meat from the meals served to the more than 8,000 inmates has saved an estimated $200,000 per year. The jail has been serving vegetarian meals for nearly a year and a half now.

"I think the food is great," Anderson said. "I think it's very helpful and encouraging to give people the chance to eat compassionately and make non-violent choices when it comes to their eating habits."

"Because of you guys, I'm starting my vegetarian diet today," Arpaio said.

On "The O'Reilly Factor," Bernard McGuirk joked that this would be like Bill O'Reilly and Rachel Maddow teaming up to promote a gluten-free diet.

McGuirk asserted that Arpaio doesn't care about the health of the inmates as much as he's trying to save money.
