Newly released dash cam footage shows the first moments of an encounter between a white South Carolina police officer and an unarmed black man, which ended in the black man’s shooting death.

Officer Michael Slager pulled over Walter Scott on Saturday morning for a broken tail light. Previously released footage shows the moment that Slager shot at Scott eight times as he fled.

This new dash cam footage shows Slager pull over Scott and approach him for his license and registration. It culminates when Scott flees his vehicle, and Slager shouts “Taser, Taser, Taser” – which officers typically do before deploying their stun guns.

It’s unclear why Scott ran from his car, but his brother says that he didn’t want to be in police custody because he was delinquent on child support payments.
