Michael Tammero dropped by "Fox and Friends" this morning with a behind-the-scenes look at the new series, “Legends & Lies: The Real West.”

The series will unearth the truth behind the legends of the American West, such as Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Doc Holliday and James "Wild Bill" Hickok.

Tammero had the chance to catch up with cast members Vinny Curran — who stars as Elzy Lay — and Lincoln Leavre — who portrays Butch Cassidy — in the series that's bringing the West back to life.

Curran and Leavre gave Tammero a quick tour of the set, where he was shown how special effects help make shoot-outs look believable.

He chatted with art director Jeremiah Hornbaker, who showed him the weapons that the actors use.

“We have quite an arrangement of weapons here,” Hornbaker said. “We covered everything from the 1780s, '90s, all the way up to the 1940s.”

Tammero even had a chance to hold "the most famous" rifle, an 1873 Winchester. Hornbaker told Tammero that it's used by almost everyone in the show at some point in time.

"It's one of the most famous weapons and well-desired weapons of outlaws and lawmen," Hornbaker shared.
