A New York court has ruled that a Brooklyn woman can serve her husband divorce papers on Facebook.

A lawyer for Ellanora Baidoo told the New York Daily News that his client’s marriage fell apart after her husband backed away from his promise to arrange a traditional wedding ceremony in their home country of Ghana.

The couple reportedly never lived together or consummated the marriage.

Baidoo’s lawyer said the couple kept in touch through Facebook and Baidoo's husband's prepaid phone. Baidoo and her lawyer can’t locate her husband’s home address.

A judge ruled that Baidoo can send one Facebook message per week for three weeks straight. Baidoo served her husband with divorce papers via Facebook last week and has not yet received a response.

“That’s the new era we’re living in, Shep,” Kennedy said on “Shepard Smith Reporting” today. “Your Facebook account is as physical as your address.”
