Legendary actor Robert De Niro has thrown his support behind potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"I think that she’s paid her dues," De Niro told The Daily Beast. "There are going to be no surprises, and she has earned the right to be president and the head of the country at this point. It’s that simple. And she’s a woman, which is very important because her take on things may be what we need right now."

Democratic strategist Brian Benjamin said on "Fox and Friends Weekend" that he agreed that Clinton has earned the right to be regarded as a serious contender.

"Her experience is very, very impressive for a candidate," Benjamin said.

Is it an advantage to have celebrities endorsing her? Leland Vittert asked.

GOP strategist Noelle Nikpour admitted it helps in creating buzz and generating funds. But it also hurts Clinton, Nikpour said, because Americans don't want an entitled candidate being flaunted by celebrities as it being "their time."
