Parents Had to Sign Permission Slips So Their Kids Could Eat... 1 Oreo?!
A Pennsylvania teacher asked parents to sign permission slips allowing their middle school aged children to eat a single Oreo.
A parent tweeted out a photo of the permission slip, which explained that the students are learning about tectonic plates. The teacher said she would be using Oreos in an exercise which would model plate movement.
The letter read:
They will be using a Double Stuff OREO to simulate the 3 types of plate boundaries and the geographical features that are created at the boundary. The students may eat the OREO after the investigation if this is okay with you. The students do NOT have to eat the OREO if they do not wish to do so.
NOTE: The ingredients of the OREO are listed on the back of this sheet and on my e-board, under the attachment labeled “Continental Plates Permission Slip.”
Please complete the permission slip and send to school by Wednesday, March 25, 2015. We will be doing the lab on Friday, March 27, 2015.
Neil Cavuto said on “Your World” today, “I want teachers to teach, and I want Oreos to be eaten.”
