Eva Mendes: Sweatpants Are 'No. 1 Cause of Divorce in America'
Actress Eva Mendes is receiving some backlash on social media for her remarks about sweatpants leading to divorce.
“You can’t do sweatpants. … No, ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!” the 41-year-old told “Extra.”
The new mom shared her style advice after being asked if she sports comfortable pants around her house. She repeatedly said "no" before stating that sweats can cause a couple to break up.
She later issued an apology on Instagram stating that she was 'just kidding" along with a photo of sweatpants.
Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you're the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs.
Mendes' boyfriend, actor Ryan Gosling, also took a stand for her on Twitter.
Obviously sweatpants thing was a joke. Wearing them now. That's right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter.

Judge Alex Ferrer weighed in on "Outnumbered" today, stating that he actually likes women in sweatpants.
"I have to agree with her, orange Crocs are definitely the number one cause of divorce," Ferrer said. "From a male perspective when I was reading this I was thinking about all of you wearing sweatpants and I like it. I don't have a problem with it."
Ainsley Earhardt remarked that her husband is "so happy and loves it" when she wears them.
