Real estate heir Robert Durst was arrested Saturday in New Orleans on murder charges, according to the FBI.

71-year-old Durst, a suspect in three murders, was nabbed on an out-of-state warrant. He is the subject of a recent HBO documentary series, "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst."

Durst was acquitted in 2003 in the murder of Morris Black, whose dismembered body was found stuffed in plastic garbage bags in Galveston Bay, Texas. Durst admitted he dismembered Black’s body, but was acquitted after claiming self-defense.

Durst is also a suspect in the 1982 disappearance of his wife, Kathie, and the 2000 execution-style shooting of Berman, a friend of his.

William La Jeunesse reported on "America's News Headquarters" that the warrant for Durst's arrest is coming from Los Angeles, suggesting it could be related to Berman's death.

Berman was killed just as prosecutors were preparing to interview her about the disappearance of Durst's wife.

La Jeunesse reported that it is not known if prosecutors are going off information from hours of interviews with Durst in the HBO series or if they have other evidence.

"For now, he's in jail in New Orleans, he has an initial appearance scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. and during that extradition and bail being set, we could find out more from this case from the L.A. perspective."
