A tanker truck exploded this morning, causing a massive fire on Interstate 94 in Dearborn, Michigan.

The semi appears to have struck a vehicle, and another car caught fire on the westbound side of the freeway, WJBK reported.

The blaze has also spread to the grass on the embankment of the highway and to the sewer drains.

Lt. Michael Shaw with the Michigan State Police told WJBK that a petroleum product was on board and that authorities are evaluating if this is a hazmat situation.

No word yet on what caused the truck fire. I-94 is currently shut down while the blaze is put out and authorities investigate.
