Neil Cavuto this afternoon asked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) about illegal immigration and 2016.

Rubio has called deportation unrealistic for the millions of illegal immigrants in the United States.

“Among the real conservatives, do you think your more pragmatic stance on this illegal immigration issue hurts you?” Cavuto asked.

Rubio said he doesn’t think so. The Florida senator said the vast majority of Americans understand that the U.S. will have to decide what to do with people who have been in the country illegally. Still, he explained that Americans won’t be prepared to have that discussion until they see immigration laws being enforced.

“You’re not gonna be able to have that conversation until you first show people – not tell people, show people – that illegal immigration in the future will be under control,” he said.

Rubio and Cavuto also discussed ISIS, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, and raising campaign cash. Hear more from the wide-ranging interview above.
