Actor William Shatner is firing back at those who criticized him for missing "Star Trek" co-star Leonard Nimoy's funeral.

Shatner, 83, reportedly arrived in Los Angeles two hours after Nimoy was mourned by close family and friends at a private traditional Jewish service in Hollywood.

The Priceline pitchman attended a Red Cross fundraiser Saturday evening in Palm Beach, Florida and traveled to Los Angeles Sunday morning.

Shatner's decision to stay in Florida drew sharp backlash from fans and The New York Daily News who featured him on the cover of the paper calling him “Captain Jerk.”

Shatner explained on Twitter why he missed the funeral and also fired back at the newspaper for criticizing him.
