McCain: 'I'm Ashamed of My Country, My President and Myself'
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spoke out on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday about the Obama administration's poor handling of the crisis in Ukraine.
There is growing concern that a cease-fire between Ukraine and Russian-backed rebels will not hold.
"The Ukrainians aren't asking for American boots on the ground. That's not the question here. They're asking for weapons to defend themselves, and they are being slaughtered and their military is being shattered," McCain said.
"This is a shameful chapter. I’m ashamed of my country, I’m ashamed of my president and I’m ashamed of myself that I haven’t done more to help these people. It is really, really heartbreaking."
The "Outnumbered" panel today discussed if America has lost its way when it comes to leadership in the world.
"John McCain is trying to drag us into a war any chance that he gets," Andrea Tantaros asserted. "And so personally, I'm a little bit ashamed of John McCain."
"He definitely has a quick trigger finger, I'm not going to deny that," Jesse Watters said. "I think his point is that we need to respect borders. And I'm not surprised the president doesn't respect Ukraine's borders, he doesn't respect the borders of the United States."
