Frightening surveillance footage captures the moment a West Virginia pharmacist takes on an armed robber.

The video shows a man enter Good Family Pharmacy in Pinch, West Virginia, Wednesday morning, wearing a hoodie and a bandana.

When he reaches into his jacket and pulls out a gun, pharmacist Don Radcliff grabs his own weapon to protect a store full of customers and employees.

Radcliff beats the man on the draw and fires a total of three shots, stopping the robbery and killing the gunman.

Radcliff is being hailed as a hero in his hometown. He joined Steve Doocy on "Fox and Friends" this morning to discuss the harrowing incident.

Radcliff said he thought the man was just bundled up due to the cold weather when he first entered the pharmacy.

"I just made a joke with him and said, 'Better watch this fella. He might be here to rob us,'" Radcliff said. "Had it been one of our regular customers, they would have joked right back with me."

But the man didn't lower his bandana or hoodie and didn't reply.

Radcliff said he asked the man if he was dropping off or picking up, and that's when he pulled out the gun.

Radcliff, who has a concealed-carry permit, went for his weapon and closed the distance between he and the robber.

"About the time I got my gun up, he said 'This is a robbery.'"

Radcliff then fired his weapon.

"It's something that I never thought I'd ever have to do to. It's something I absolutely never wanted to have to do," Radcliff said.

"I've been talking to God, but he's been talking to me," Radcliff revealed. "I have a daily devotional that I read every morning. The very next morning, my devotional was out of the tenth chapter of John, the tenth verse. And it said, 'A thief comes but to steal, kill and destroy. I come so that you may have life and have it in abundance.'"

"That devotional was printed months or years ago, and it was not a coincidence that that was my daily devotional the next morning."
