Incredible dash cam video shows a Michigan police officer cheating death by mere inches.

A Bloomfield Township police officer stepped out of his patrol car Saturday to assist a driver in a disabled car on icy I-75, and the dash cam in his patrol car captured a harrowing crash.

As the officer speaks to the driver, another vehicle loses control on the slippery road and hits the officer's patrol car. It then slams into the disabled car, nearly sandwiching the cop between the two vehicles.

Luckily, the officer misses certain death by several inches and is knocked into a roadside ditch.

The officer was reportedly transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was later released and is at home recovering.

A police spokesman said the out-of-control car was driven by an 18-year-old who was ticketed for reckless driving.
