University of Texas is investigating a fraternity following allegations of a "racist" border patrol-themed party.

Photos from a Phi Gamma Delta party show attendees wearing ponchos and sombreros. The event also featured a giant Patron bottle and a photo stand-in of a couple wearing traditional Mexican attire. Partygoers say they were told that the event was border patrol-themed.

But the fraternity chapter president claims that the party had an “old Western theme” and apologized for any insensitivity.

University spokesman Gary Susswein said in an email, "We strive to promote a campus culture in which all students feel welcome and safe — and we take allegations of discrimination and hate extremely seriously. Our Dean of Students’ office is meeting with leadership of the student group today and is moving quickly to gather information and assess the situation."
