After Mitt Romney announced Friday that he will not be running for president in 2016, Donald Trump took to Twitter to take credit for Romney dropping out of the race.

Trump explained on "Fox and Friends" this morning that Romney simply didn't do a good job in the 2012 election, particularly in the last month.

"Once a choker, always a choker," Trump stated. "I said, 'The last thing Republicans have to do is put him in the same position again.' And I think that was an easier race to win. He should have won that race and he should have won it easily."

"He did the right thing. He got out. He wasn't going to win anyway. He wasn't going to get the nomination. But more importantly, if he did get the nomination, he wasn't going to win."
