Trump: Christie Can 'Absolutely' Win in 2016, Romney and Bush Can't
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has taken a major step toward a 2016 presidential run by forming a political action committee and hiring staff.
Donald Trump said on "Fox and Friends" that everybody knows Christie is going to run and it's all but certain that he will.
Can Christie win? Brian Kilmeade asked.
"He can win. He can win, absolutely. He's a formidable guy and he's a good person," Trump said. "I know a lot of people hit him hard - left and right - but he's a good person."
Trump also weighed in on his own chances in the 2016 election and if he will throw his name in the hat.
"I am very, very seriously looking at running," Trump said, noting he received a very positive reaction at the Iowa Freedom Conference over the weekend.
"If I did it, I'd do a very good job. Bring America back, make America great again."
Trump also shared his thoughts on two other possible GOP candidates, Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush, both of whom skipped the Iowa Freedom Conference.
Trump said that Romney "choked" in the 2012 election and Republicans can't take the chance that something like that could happen again.
"And with Jeb? You just don't need another Bush," Trump said. "In terms of the border, in terms of a lot of other things, he's very weak on the issues, including Common Core."
"I think we have a very good chance to win this, but it depends on the candidate. I do not think that Bush and I do not think that Romney can win this race."
