An 11-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero for making a 911 call after his dad fell off a cliff.

Man Pinned Between 2 Semi-Trucks Recounts Terrible Crash

While hiking along the Blue Ridge Loop Trail near Sacramento, California, Ryan Pritchard reportedly put his hand on an unstable rock and tumbled 150 feet down the cliff, landing in a tree.

Pritchard's son, Jake, climbed down and grabbed his dad's cell phone. The boy's Cub Scout training had taught him to call 911 during an emergency.

"My dad fell off a cliff," Jake calmly told the emergency dispatcher.

The brave 11-year-old boy waited with his father and flagged down the rescue helicopter when it arrived.

"He told me to take off one shirt and wave it around and I did," Jake said. "And it got the helicopter to fly over us."

The two were airlifted to safety and Pritchard was treated for several fractured bones, a head injury and a broken jaw.

He is expected to be OK, thanks in large part to his quick-thinking son.
