Chaffetz on Possible Romney Run: 'The Public Has Buyer's Remorse'
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) told Megyn Kelly tonight that he spoke with Mitt Romney about another possible presidential run.
Chaffetz said Romney wanted advice and perspective on whether he should run again. Chaffetz said he hopes that Romney does.
“I think he’s the right person at the right time,” Chaffetz said, though he noted that Romney will have to do something different to compel people to back him.
Chaffetz said Romney is well-vetted, right on the issues and able to raise $1 billion. He called the former presidential candidate “prophetic on foreign policy,” adding that Romney was right and President Barack Obama was wrong.
“I think the public has buyer’s remorse,” Chaffetz said.
While Romney has not yet officially said if he will run for president, Chaffetz said, “I really think he does wanna become the president of the United States.”
