Ingraham: Conservatives' Criticism of Mitt Romney Helps Jeb Bush
As Mitt Romney ponders a potential third presidential run, both liberal and conservative pundits have ripped the 2012 GOP candidate and his chances in the 2016 election.
Laura Ingraham, who recently sat down with Romney for an off-the-record lunch at a Utah ski resort, told Howard Kurtz on "Media Buzz" that conservatives' criticism of Romney just helps Jeb Bush.
"The more they hammer any other candidate, they're helping the establishment's, at least, current favorite," she said.
Ingraham said that Romney has been traveling the country, meeting with high-profile donors and telling them not to commit to anyone else, but that does not mean he's running for sure.
"[The media] is missing the narrative here," Ingraham said. "We are on the verge in the Republican field of having the donor class select the GOP nomination."
"What we know is that money still talks and it talks really loudly in politics," she stated.
Ingraham said she doesn't think all the negative press will dissuade Romney from running.
"I think what he would be dissuaded by is if donor after donor after donor told him, 'Mitt, we love you, but you had your chance.'"
