Judge Andrew Napolitano was on “Shepard Smith Reporting” today to discuss possible punishments an American couple on trial for murder could face in Bali, Indonesia.

The couple is accused of gruesomely murdering the woman's mother and stuffing her body in a suitcase that was left behind in a taxi back in August 2014.

"The defendants do not have the right to remain silent, so these trials usually begin with the judges interrogating the defendants," Napolitano shared. "If you do remain silent they construe the answer to be against your interests."

Napolitano said that with all of the evidence against the couple, "it will be an easy case for the government to prove and that the trial shouldn't last very long."

If the couple is found guilty and sentenced to death, Napolitano said they could face a firing squad.
