Muslim Employee of Paris Grocery Store Credited With Saving 15 Lives
A Muslim man is being hailed as a hero for saving the lives of 15 people during Friday’s attack on a kosher grocery store in Paris.
Lassana Bathily, an employee at the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket, reportedly led 15 people downstairs at the store when it was stormed by Islamic terrorist Amedy Coulibaly.
Bathily hid them in a freezer for three hours during the siege, according to reports.
"I came down running toward the freezer and opened the door," Bathily explained through a translator. "There were several people with me. I turned off the light and the freezer. Amongst the people who were with me, there was a two-year-old child as well."
"I put them inside the freezer, closed the door and told them, 'Stay calm. I will go out.' I went up, I looked everywhere. I didn't see the hostage-taker," Bathily said.
"When they came out, they congratulated me. They told me, 'Thank you, really.' I said, 'It's nothing. That's life.'"
