Charles Krauthammer called Friday “a big day for al Qaeda” following reports that the terror group’s Yemen branch is responsible for the Charlie Hebdo attack.

“This is al Qaeda’s re-emergence today […] this is a statement that we are here and we’re around.”

Krauthammer discussed how Iranian-backed insurgents have displaced the Yemeni government, and he called the al Qaeda and Shiite insurgences “a catastrophe on the Sunni radical front.”

According to Krauthammer, there is competition among the radical insurgents – like al Qaeda and ISIS militants – making it all the more deadly.
