Mark Steyn tonight charged the media with "maneuvering Islam into the victim seat" following the terror attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris that left 12 dead.

Steyn stated that the victims in this scenario are those who have been murdered, and the perpetrators are Muslim.

"I'm sure that does cause [moderate Muslims] problems, but there is something in grotesque bad taste […] in the way they need to maneuver themselves into the victim role when the victims are still on the floor bleeding.”

Steyn said that these cartoonists “bore a very lonely burden […] in part because they were braver than everybody else.”

Steyn argued that the media should have published the controversial Charlie Hebdo cartoons the very next day because you can’t claim to defend free speech “when you accept the rules set by the murderers.”
